So honored to be invited to speak at the Michigan Reading Association Summer Conference this week.
My talk will be:
Teaching Tolerance and Diversity in a Xenophobic World
Encouraging open minds is vital, not only to help students embrace diversity in others, but see differences as strengths in themselves. Participants in this session will learn specific strategies for using story and characters as a springboard for classroom discussion, several classroom activities, and to provide an open door to those who are struggling with these issues.
Maybe I’ll see you there!
